Before you get started

Parents:

Being prepared is a huge part of being successful in homeschool, so here are some notes and a list of tools and resources we used during our Texas History studies.

Notes:

You can use these 12 lessons weekly, monthly, or any way you like. You may choose to use a little, a lot, or the whole thing! You may choose what works best for your family based on your children’s age, maturity, ability to sit still ;-), or your homeschool schedule.

There is quite a bit of writing to help with retention, but feel free to use narration for younger children (your child tells you and you write it down for them.) You are free to do whatever works best for you and your family.

IMG_4345This program mostly utilizes online materials; however, there is a book (listed below) for the first section. If you can not access this book for free at the public library just use the listed website instead. Feel free to add other supplements, such as books surrounding the week’s theme, or field trips to Texas History locations (our favorite!)

There are some tools that are recommended for specific age groups and should be reviewed by parents before allowing your children to use/view.  Texas history isn’t always pretty and calm, so choose the best options for your child.
