Texas History 2 – Texas Missions

Today we are learning about Texas Missions!

Supplies:

  • Texas Mission factsheet

Let’s get started

-Head over to the Spanish Missions in Texas page on Legends of America and read about the Missions’ history.

-You are going to complete the Texas Missions Worksheet Sheet1 for 3 Texas Missions. Look at this map of the Texas Spanish Missions. Are there any close to where you live?  If there are, then choose those to write on your fact sheet.  If not, then pick 3 that seem interesting. Once you choose your three, search each one in the search function on the Texas State Historical Association’s Website to find information about your missions.

-Cut out your next sheet of Texas History Vocabulary Words that you printed last time. Combine them with the words in your envelope and play a matching game. (Remember, you can play either face-up or face them down and play a memory game.)

-Once you’ve completed this you can take a virtual tour of the Alamo!

Are you close enough to take a trip to one or two local missions?

We enjoyed visiting The Alamo, Mission Concepción, and Mission San José in San Antonio.
