Texas History 3 – Texas History timeline and early explorers

Today we are going to start your timeline.

Supplies

Take a look at section 1 of the Lone Star Junction Timeline. Each of the 5 dates (numbered 1-5) goes in a box on the timeline. Write the date on the top of the box. You can either write the facts in the box or for younger children you can draw a picture of the event in the box.

-Once you’ve finished your timeline head over to your Texas History Writing Assignments page and complete the activity for History 3.  Pick an explorer listed on our timeline in section one today and write down 5 facts about them. (If you need to find more information about them try our book, Texas History, or this website.)

-Next, Print your North America Through Time booklet. What have you learned about the Early History of Texas that tells you why the map on page 2 looks like it does? Who does Texas currently belong to? Write your observations on page 2 for the year 1763.

-Cut out your next sheet of Texas History Vocabulary Words. Combine them with the words in your envelope and play a matching game. (Remember, you can play either face-up or face them down and play a memory game.) Place all of the cards back in the envelope when you’re done.
